What does it cost to break up with AT&T?
There’s always a 14 day binding period after your actual purchase date, such as the date your credit card is charged.
After that, AT&T will charge an Early Termination Fee (ETF) for in-contract customers. The full fee is $325 for smartphones or $150 for devices like hotspots and basic phones and reduces $10 or $4 per month of the service contract. AT&T will also charge restocking fees for returned devices.
If you are Financing a device from AT&T, keep in mind your balance will come due immediately if you cancel.
This is why carriers offer as much as $650 to encourage customers to switch.
